Family Background

My name is Fang, Chun-jia, living in a single-parent family. My mother is a career woman, and my younger brother is a senior high school student. My mother always teaches us to hold a positive attitude toward everything. Thus, when facing obstacles, I turn to look on a bright side and try to deal with them. My brother is a person who is always patient and careful about everything. Whenever I am in a bad mood, he would listen to me and cheer me up. He is not only my brother but also my good teacher and friend. Maybe my family is not perfect in every aspect, but I am very content with what I have now. I love my family very much.

School Life

I study in Tainan Commercial Vocational High Senior School and major in Department of Applied Foreign Languages. I am glad to have so many lovely classmates to learn and experience a lot of activities together. Each school day to me is full of joy and fun. They are so humorous and kind to me. Because of them, I feel it is interesting to go to school.

With the teachers’ instruction and help during the three years, I read many English magazines, novels and talked in English with foreigners and friends everyday. Now, I can speak English more fluently than I did when I entered the senior high school and my reading ability has improved a lot. I think learning English is a constant process that will never end if I hope to learn English really well. 

In my extracurricular activities, I do enjoyed playing volleyball with my friends and my classmates. We always play volleyball games with other students in my school. In these games, I made many friends, expanded my social circles, and learned what is called teamwork. I also like to listen to English songs in my leisure time, and try to understand and memorize the lyrics. By doing this, I have improved my English listening ability a lot. I do love my school life in senior high school, and I will keep it in my mind for good.

When I was a freshman in senior high school, I couldn’t play volleyball very well. Thus, I decided to practice it every weekend to improve my volleyball skills. Also, I have passion to give aid to those who are in need. When my classmates have some problems on schoolwork or they are in a bad mood that need some advice, I would teach and listen to them patiently as possible as I can.

I love playing volleyball after I entered senior high school gradually. I enjoy the delight atmosphere when playing volleyball with my classmates and friends after school every day. I think I can’t live without it even I go to college.

I hope I can speak English fluently and talk to foreigners face to face more bravely, so I want to take the courses about training students’ oral speaking skill. Although, I’m still not sure about my future career, I will equip myself with professional English skills during the four years in the college and explore where my interest is and what I can do in the future. I really hope that I can be admitted to your school.

I know that learning English is not an easy thing and it requires much time for me to learn it well. However, I deeply believe that if I try my best, my effort will pay off one day.

     My name is Yang. I am 17 years old. My English name is Wendy. There are seven people in my family, and I am the second child among five. My father is the undertaker of a factory and my mother is a housewife. My sister is a university student, while my younger sisters and brothers are junior high school students. Luckily, I have a happy family with open-minded parents and have a life with affluent materials.

Since I was a kindergarten student, I enjoyed singing and dancing very much. Usually, I volunteered to perform in front of the class. I remember then, I liked to watch variety shows, and that’s how I learned to sing popular songs. Those singers and actors who perform in TV programs are my idols. Every time we hold the birthday celebration for my grandparents, it is me who have to imitate the singers in front of the relatives to amuse them. I felt entertaining people is such a great enjoyment.

Throughout my school time, I have been a regular student in study, but have excellent performance on various activities. Speech, painting, singing contests are my battlefield and the place for me to win my honor. Besides, I have wide range of hobbies. I enjoy reading novels, seeing movies, swimming, mountain hiking, roller-staking and overseas traveling. Also I join the badminton and drama clubs. I spend most of my time in the drama club after school, for every one of our club members has to undertake the role of both the performer and the staff. There are so many works to be done before a play is ready and all of our club members have to contribute ourselves what we are good at. While working with those vigorous and creative fellows I never feel tired or bored.

This summer, my drama club produces a play called ”Aladdin” as our graduation ceremony show. I played Aladdin’s mother, a comic role in the play with greedy and sarcastic characteristics. Because it was a musical, all the actors had to sing and dance at the same time. And thanks to the professional teachers who volunteered to instruct us, we even did the chorus during the play, which was a quartet with fantastic dancing. During the holidays we came to school doing rehearsals and made the costume and by this creative stage world that I stared to think very seriously that whether it was a dream for me to pursuit. My parents tell me to do what I want but not what I am expected to and this is why I decided to apply myself to the drama department.
I want to become a stage actress as other companies who have the same ideal.

To me, a play not only can offer people entertainment, but also in many times, it can provide people a different point of view toward lives. Compare to those with full trained skill, who come from a professional school, maybe I am far too idealistic and naive. I know nothing is easy and I think to be a drama department student would be a big challenge. I have learned a line from my English teacher that is, ”Not until you give it a try will you know the result.” I got passion and expectation to myself, wish you would give me a opportunity to make my dream come true.

     I am Mark Huang, a second-year senior high school student. I am seventeen-year-old. I am from a well-to-do family. I am the eldest child of three. In order to prepare myself for the E-era and be able to apple my interest and specialty into the workplace, I decide to major in computer science to enhance my computer skill and knowledge and learn how to design programs that will bring people efficiency and convenience in the 21st century.

With my computer and English ability, I am confident in myself to do well in computer field. Wish you could give me a chance to prove it. I am eager to be one of programmer who helps our society to do development and research on information and technology in this cutting edge.

 There are several reasons why Mr. Williams’ business failed. First, the store’s position was not good because it was located next to the Fairfax Apartment Building which was on a small side street just outside of town. Thus, it was not easy for people to notice it. Besides, there were two large music stores that was three miles away from a shopping center. Therefore, many people would go to the two stores instead of Williams’. The second reason is the music style which Mr. Williams bought. Most of the CDs were hip-hop and rock, however, people who live in the Fairfax are almost at the age above 41. Hence, this kind of age group wouldn’t like such two music styles. Moreover, the pay that Mr. Williams paid his employees was too high. Eventually, he couldn’t afford it. The most important reason is that the time that the store opened was too short. Consequently, few people would walk past the store or even enter the store. For several reasons above, I suppose that Mr. Williams should think twice when he makes any decision.

               Stanley Manufacturing decided to open a large factory in a small town, which is called Acton. Thus, this construction will lead to many sorts of negative effects on Acton. First of all, the quiet town will become noisy after the large factory opens because the factory will make lots of noise day and night. Also, the factory may release polluted water and foul gas. Both of them will harm those townsmen’s health if they live there for a long time. Third, the traffic will become a big trouble in the town every day because many people work for the large factory. Hence, people have to care about their safety when there is a traffic peak. Most importantly, the town will change very much once the factory opens. Many people, places and sceneries will change fast. In short, it will bring about many bad effects on the small town after the factory is built.

First, there are many criminals seeking the children, especially teenagers, to chat with them and plan to cheat their money. Chatting with the children for several days, these criminals will take the opportunity to ask them for money. In general, many people would forget their common sense and give them money. Second, some criminals will ask them out, and when  they know each other well they will rape or even murder them. Out of curiosity, the children may promise to go out with them. Eventually, they not only lost their money, but put no trust in anyone. Due to all of the two reasons, one must conclude that we can’t be too careful to meet people on the Internet.

  I once lived in Taipei, and worked as a volunteer in a hospital. It really felt good to get the opportunities to help people. One morning an elderly woman with a bloody head was sent to the hospital by a stranger. Seeing the situation, I shuddered involuntarily and became worried.

Few minutes later, a nurse rushed out of the emergency room hastily and asked for anyone who is with blood type O in the hospital. However, there was no one who replied her asking. Suddenly, I found that I was the one with blood type O.

Due to being afraid of making an injection, I hesitated about making the decision to reply the nurse for her help. After a while, I decided to do it and then followed her to draw my blood.

After the operation, the woman was out of danger and knew that I saved her, telling me that she really thanked for my help. At that moment, I realized that I've done a right thing.

It is for all the above-mentioned reasons that I suppose that wearing uniforms is necessary.

Second, John Adams studied and practiced law. Likewise, Thomas Jefferson studied and practiced law. Third, John Adams was a signer of Declaration of Independence, and so was Thomas Jefferson. In addition, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had ever been the president of United States. They also delegated to the Continental Congress. To my surprise, both of them died on July 4, 1826. To sum up, the two men whom I mention above are so alike that I often get mix up.

Firstly, there are two large bedrooms in Fairfax Apartment, but there is only one bedroom in CAMPUS APTS. Secondly, pets are allowed in CAMPUS APTS, while it’s not allowed in Fairfax Apartment. That way, I won’t be disturbed by the noise made from the dogs. Unlike CAMPUS APTS, Fairfax Apartment is furnished and air conditioned. Finally, though the rent of the Fairfax Apartment for a month is more expensive than CAMPUS APTS, I think the facilities in Fairfax Apartment is suitable for me.

As a proverb goes, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.” Thus, if we eat apples every day, our bodies will become healthier.  Furthermore, if we are hungry, eating an apple can make us feel replete. Especially if we are going on a diet, eating apples a day is a good choice for us during that period of time. Moreover, her hair is black and curly and she doesn’t wear glasses. In addition, there is a big mole on her right cheek. You can also notice her immediately by her scar on her nose.         There are some similarities between the two men, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. First, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson played an important role in the American Revolution. Second, John Adams studied and practiced law. Likewise, Thomas Jefferson studied and practiced law. Third, John Adams was a signer of Declaration of Independence, and so did Thomas Jefferson. In addition, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had ever been the president of United States. They also delegated to the Continental Congress. To my surprise, both of them died on July 4, 1826. To sum up, the two men whom I mention above are so alike that I often get mix up.

Staying healthy can be an easy thing for you. The first thing you should do is to exercise regularly. For example, you can go to a gym or go swimming three times a week. By means of these exercise, your health will become better. The second thing is to keep a balanced diet. You should eat vegetables and fruits rather than meat every day. Last but not the least, keeping a good mood is also a good way to stay your health. As the saying goes,” Laughter is the best medicine.” If you follow these easy methods which are mentioned above, you can also be a healthy man.

        It is easy for us to make an uncomplicated experiment to prove that black is a better collector of solar energy than white. What we need are two tin cans, black and white paint and a room thermometer. First, paint the can-one black, one white. Then fill the cans with water, putting the cans in direct sunlight for three hours. After that, check the temperature of the water in the cans and compare. We can see that the temperature of the water in the black can is higher. The conclusion of the experiment is that black is a better collector of solar energy than white.

It is easy to pot a plant if you follow the right procedure. First, cover bottom of pot with small stones. Then, put two inches of soil on top of rocks. Next, make a hole in center of soil and then drop plant into soil. After that, add soil until it almost reaches top of pot. Finally, press soil down with thumbs. These steps above are easy for you to operate if you want to pot a plant.

        I wouldn’t forget what happened on my birthday this year. When I got up, I found a big teddy bear put on my bed. Glad but confused, I wondered who the owner of the teddy bear was. A few minutes later, my mother came to my room and called me with joy. Following her, my brother handed me a birthday cake as well as a big hand-made card. Suddenly, I found that the day was my birthday. I was surprised because he never did it to anyone. Soon after, many friends of mine came to my home and we had a birthday party. At the party, we danced, sang birthday songs and did many crazy things. They gave me many blessings, and we did have a lot of fun on that significant day. That was really my day. I’ll bear the day in mind forever.

    I once lived in Taipei, and worked as a volunteer in a hospital. It really felt good to get the opportunities to help people. One morning an elderly woman with a bloody head was sent to the hospital by a stranger. Seeing the situation, I shuddered involuntarily and became worried.

Few minutes later, a nurse rushed out of the emergency room hastily and asked for anyone who is with blood type O in the hospital. However, there was no one who replied her asking. Suddenly, I found that I was the one with blood type O.

Due to being afraid of making an injection, I hesitated about making the decision to reply the nurse for her help. After a while, I decided to do it and then followed her to draw my blood.

After the operation, the woman was out of danger and knew that I saved her, telling me that she really thanked for my help. At that moment, I realized that I've done a right thing.
